On June 1, 2018, the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) officially assumed responsibility for delivering the First Aid Responder (FAR) course as the national standard for occupational first aid, taking over from the Occupational First Aid Assessment Agent (OFAAA/QQI).
This new educational standard was welcomed by both instructors and students. In the earlier OFAAA / QQI system, the idea of being evaluated by an external instructor led to considerable anxiety among students, to say the least.
To become a First Aid Responder Instructor in Ireland today, it is crucial to meet certain criteria. Each prospective First Aid Responder student instructor must demonstrate proficiency in the PHECC First Aid Responder level standard they plan to teach, such as CFR or FAR.
Generally, a provider certificate is the minimum requirement.
Therefore, it is accurate to say that you do not need to be a Nurse or Paramedic to teach the First Aid Response course.
